The prostitute, who slept with Wayne Rooney while his wife Coleen was pregnant, was attacked after pub revellers taunted the about her alleged affair.

Helen Wood was out with friends in the Heaton area of Bolton, Greater Manchester, when it is understood a group of drinkers - both men and women - recognised her and began chanting: ‘Rooney, Rooney’.

It is believed her friend asked them to stop, but the taunts continued and eventually Miss Wood started arguing with the group.

A row then broke out at The Victoria's Inn, which ended with the 24-year-old lying on the floor and being kicked in the face by two women, it is claimed.

The attack left her bleeding from a cut on her nose and with bruises on her face.

She also claims that her mobile phone was stolen in the incident, which happened at about 12.30am on Sunday.
A source told Mail Online: ‘She was in the pub having a drink with Ian Dowie (former footballer and manager) and they were all over each other at the bar.

‘We heard a massive crashing about, turned around and she had been punched in the face by a girl.
'She had blood all over her face and some hair was on the floor but it could have been extensions.

 

‘Ian Dowey ran out of the pub and left and she came out and was screaming at a girl.’
She was shouting: ‘When I get my hands on you’ to a girl who was walking off down the road and who didn’t appear bothered by her at all.
‘Helen was also with a group of guys who had their shirts all ruffed up who had been in the scuffle inside the pub.’

The incident was caught on CCTV, and now detectives, who are treating the matter as assault, are reviewing the footage.

Security staff at The Victoria Inn, which is known locally as ‘Fanny's’, had one man pinned to the floor after the incident, but they let him go and he left.

No arrests have been made and the bar’s manager declined to comment.

An ambulance was called to the pub after it was reported that Miss Wood was suffering ‘serious bleeding", but she refused to go to hospital.

A police spokesman said: ‘Police were called to a pub after reports of a disturbance in which a 24-year-old woman was attacked. Inquiries are on-going.’

Miss Wood hit headlines last year when it was alleged she and another prostitute, Jenny Thompson, had sex with Manchester United star Rooney in 2009 while his wife, Colleen, was pregnant with their son, Kai.

The vice girl also claimed this year that she had a sexual relationship with a leading actor, who is married and is a world famous celebrity.

But a High Court judge ruled in July that a gagging order would be kept in place to grant the actor anonymity.

The judge said it was not a case where the actor should be ‘exposed in the public interest’.

He said while Helen Wood, who wanted to sell her story, had Article 10 rights to freedom of expression under the European Convention on Human Rights, he had to weigh up the actor’s Article 8 rights to privacy.
